No More Kings
Rockin' and a-rollin', splishin' and a-splashin', Over the horizon, what can it be?
When I saw the headlines for last Saturday’s No Kings’ “protest,” the Schoolhouse Rock song, No More Kings, popped in my head:
…They knew that now they'd run their own land,
But George the Third still vowed
He'd rule them till the end.
Anything I say, do it my way now.
Anything I say, do it my way.
Don't you get to feeling independent
'Cause I'm gonna force you to obey.He taxed their property,
He didn't give them any choice,
And back in England,
He didn't give them any voice.
(That's called taxation without representation,
and it's not fair!)
But when the Colonies complained
The king said: "I don't care!"He even has the nerve
To tax our cup of tea.
To put it kindly, King,
We really don't agree.Gonna show you how we feel.
We're gonna dump this tea
And turn this harbor into
The biggest cup of tea in history! They wanted no more Mother England.
They knew the time had come
For them to take command.
It's very clear you're being unfair, King,
No matter what you say, we won't obey.
Gonna hold a revolution now, King,
And we're gonna run it all our way
With no more kings...We're gonna elect a president! (No more kings)
He's gonna do what the people want! (No more kings)
We're gonna run things our way! (No more kings)
Nobody's gonna tell us what to do!Rockin' and a-rollin', splishin' and a-splashin',
Over the horizon, what can it be?
Looks like it's going to be a free country.
Ok, I’m still humming that catchy song. It sure doesn’t feel like we live in a free country anymore, so I understand why people want to protest the insanity we call Washington DC, but how do people not see that Washington DC created its own royal kingdom among the political elite? This is hardly the spirit of ’76.
Morgan Marek touches on the covid nightmare, but does not mention the horrors of DEI, CRT, the Twitter Files, censorship, lawfare, the madness of boys playing in girl’s sports, uncontrolled borders, etc. The hypocrisy is off the charts since we barely survived the encroaching totalitarian Biden regime and realize that President Trump is attempting to reverse much of the harm caused by uncontrolled borders and DEI, for starters. How can they not see this?
Is it because the participants/organizers of No Kings are the takers – be it individual or corporate welfare, and they want the grift to continue? Of course, they hate that Trump wants to end the grift.
Say what you want about President Trump, but when he entered politics at age 69, he was already a self-made billionaire, with a million-dollar head start from his father, but he never lived off the government, unlike too many of the “kings and queens” of DC from both parties, collectively known as the “uni-party.”
After the mantra that Trump is Hitler failed, we have been hearing about Trump wanting to be a king from the “liberal” side, but it doesn’t add up, especially since he won both the popular vote and electoral college. Yes, he is a narcissistic, young soul type, but maybe he wants to go down in history as the man who saved America by making peace deals with Iran, China, Russia, Ukraine, et. al, putting the dollar back on the gold standard and making America a producer country again - i.e., making America great again? In theory, if the trade deals create prosperity for everyone, then we should all thrive and not want war. If Trump wins, we all win.
If Trump made a back door deal to become a bigger billionaire and sell us out for another interventionist foreign war, then we will know his motive if he involves us in another “stupid endless war.” We simply do not know yet, but what we do know is that creating cradle to grave dependency on the government will be the demise of what could be our great country.
Meanwhile, the real kings and queens created their kingdom in DC.
The New York Times' story on June 14, 2025 stated:
The Clintons and Kamala Harris Descend on a Hamptons Wedding of Liberal Royalty
The wedding of Huma Abedin, a longtime aide to Hillary Clinton, and Alex Soros, the scion of a liberal philanthropic dynasty, drew a rare concentration of wealth and power.
How do people not see that career politicians like Barack Obama and Joe Biden are a perfect example of taxpayer-subsidized “kings”? Look at how they live - and off the taxpayers’ hard-earned dollars, no less.
No average American can afford a multi-million-dollar home, let alone four (4) mansions like Obama!
Look at the choices of mansions the Obamas get to choose living in:
Joe Biden has a choice of living in one of his two mansions in the most exclusive (and safe) neighborhoods in Greenville and Rehoboth, Delaware.
And now we have a new generation of polititians learning the royal wannabe game:
In 2020, the NY Post reported:
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez rocked designer duds worth more than $14,000 for her Vanity Fair cover shoot — to attack President Trump as a “motherf–ker” for not paying federal income tax.
The Daily Mail broke down the price tags for all of AOC’s pricey looks in the December issue — an Aliette silk suit worth an estimated $1,000, $3,000 Carolina Herrera suit, $2,500 Christopher John Rogers suit, $815 polka dot Wales Bonner dress, $695 Christian Louboutin slingbacks, $1,450 diamond, gold and floating pearl Mateo earrings and Bvlgari earrings which run an estimated $2,000.
All told, her wardrobe rang up to $14,310.
Socialists will eventually run out of spending other people’s money.
The media tells us that millions of people across America supported the No Kings protests. (Who believes the media anymore?) Whatever the real number is, how many of them are “living on the dole”? Most reasonable taxpayers understand that “the Resistance” to the Trump administration does not want to end corporate or individual welfare.
Just like their pretentious Fight Oligarchy tour when the real oligarchy is DC - global corporatism, the protesters/rioters for No Kings looked like clueless “liberal” group-thinkers who have no understanding of classic liberalism, which requires self-reliance, and clearly have no understanding why we have immigration laws in the first place.
Our revolutionary ancestors lived under a real king and with extraordinary courage, managed to beat the most powerful country in the 18th century. What would they say now, watching us Squander Our American Inheritance?
And that poll was in 2013.
I absolutely loved the schoolhouse rock series when I was a kid. It was educational and it really did teach a lot. In 11th grade, we had to write out the preamble of the constitution as a test. How do you think I remembered it word for word? Because of that one little episode of Schoolhouse Rock and I can still recite it to this day. Perhaps if they would put that on television, our kids might learn something. Guaranteed they would learn more than they’re learning in our public schools. Thanks for the article was great
Excellent assessment Liz.
Over the past 250 years our representatives in DC have slowly subverted the Constitution one bill/act/proclamation at a time, and now it is all most useless. They've delegated to the executive branch powers specifically reserved to congress (ie: power to declare war, tariffs, etc.), they ignore clearly defined restrictions on the federal government (ie: only gold and silver can be use as a payment for debts, etc.). All these powers delegated to the executive branch gives the president King like authority.
The entire political class has turned into the USA’s aristocracy. Congress granted themselves powers and privileges unavailable to their constituents; 80% pensions after only five years service, special law enforcement protection, exempt from insider trading, and so much more.
It’s time for a REBELLION!! We patriots must become ungovernable.
